The history of Wasabi the Cat

The adventures of Wasabi started in 2003.

Our new cat

Matt was working in the studio and left the window open and this very small kitten walked in. She was starving and covered with fleas. So for now we are going to try and take care of her and see if Matt’s cat allergies still exist. She’s pretty smart and only after one day is using the cat litter box and everything. She almost laid a turd on one of Matt’s new paintings, so we know she knows good art. For now she lives in our kitchen. —M.

Update 8/22/03

We think she might be deaf. She doesn’t respond to noises. Some friends have informed us that it is common for white cats with blue eyes to be born deaf. She is very visual though, and oddly enough, loves to watch TV. She just stares at it with a sleepy blank look on her face and ignores what is happening around her. Weird! —M.

Update 8/23/03

*She* is a *he*!!! We had our first visit to the vet this morning, and he checked out fine: no Leukemia, Kitty AIDS, or ear mites. And he sure charmed the pants off the staff. Super Kitty weighs a whopping 1.8 lbs. Kari is tempted to name him “One Point Eight” . . . —K.
